Learn the basics of metalwork and decorative design with armourer, designer, leatherworker and metalsmith, Sam Bloomfield. In this workshop, you will work with copper and brass to make and decorate your own cuff and amulet. At the end of the workshop, you will take your finished piece home with you.
Sam Bloomfield is a skilled armourer, blacksmith and metal sculptor. He grew up in New Zealand and from a young age enjoyed tinkering in his Dad’s workshop.
His childhood interest to create was developed into two qualifications – a Diploma of Arts & Creativity (Hons) and an informal apprenticeship with Stu Johnson the creator of the armoury in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Since 2003, Sam has worked on numerous commissions for television and film. His work has been exhibited at the Lost Trades Fair since 2014. Sam has a passion for metal sculpting combining traditional and modern techniques and enjoys inspiring others.
WADAWURRUNG ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Sovereign Hill acknowledges the Wadawurrung people as the Traditional custodians of the land on which we operate. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present, and to all of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who live and work on Wadawurrung Country. We acknowledge their unceded sovereignty over Wadawurrung Country, and the ongoing hardship and trauma as a result of colonisation. The history and continuous culture of the Wadawurrung people is an important part of our shared story.
