How do I get to the Rare Trades Centre?
Car
The Rare Trades Centre is a comfortable 90-minute drive from Melbourne along the Western Highway.
Public Transport
Direct from Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station, hop on the V/Line train and arrive in less than 90 minutes at the historic Ballarat Railway Station in the centre of town. From here you can catch bus route 21. Plan your full journey with Public Transport Victoria.
Taxi
To take a taxi to The Rare Trades Centre call 131 008.
Is parking available on site?
Yes, there is lots of free car parking available. On days when the Sovereign Hill living museum is particularly busy, car parking can be difficult after midday.
Is the centre accessible?
Disabled parking is available in close proximity to the entrance of the building. The building entrance is via ramp. The building has accessible toilet facilities.
Individual workshop studios are all wheelchair accessible, however there may be some limitations in regards to use of specific tools, machines and equipment. Please email hello@raretradescentre.com.au and speak with us directly about your individual needs.
Be aware that some workshops can be very noisy environments, especially those held in the Metal Machine Room and Wood Machine Room.
Is the centre inclusive?
The Centre for Rare Arts & Forgotten Trades is a safe place for everyone and welcomes people who have a desire to learn and are accepting and inclusive of other learners.
We celebrate all races, religions, genders, sexualities, ages and bodies and promote a safe and accepting space for all learners.
