Meet Lizzie Tongway, a passionate maker and one of our cherished "repeat offenders" - people who have found their place and their tribe in Rare Trade Centre workshops.
Lizzie has attended over a dozen workshops, each time expanding her skills and deepening her connection with the creative community here.
Lizzie chose to kick off her birthday festival by joining fellow creatives at the Rare Trades Centre, participating in Heather Thomas’ Natural Dye Colour Rainbow weekend workshop.
During her last visit, Lizzie brought with her some of the fruits that have grown from the seeds of her workshop experiences.
Included in that swag was a medieval-style sterling silver cloak fastener, set with cabochons, inspired by her first taste of silversmithing with Rachel Grose.
She also brought along beautifully spun skeins of wool, a skill she’s perfected since taking Learn to Spin with Dawn Lim. And to carry it all? A hand-stitched leather laptop satchel, inspired by her time in Alexander Stone’s Buckled Leather Pouch workshop.
Having completed over a dozen workshops, Lizzie is still eager for more. “Next workshop, please! I’m ready!” she says.
