ROB SAYS:
I love it, I was a huge nerd growing up, I loved Lord of The Rings and fantasy. Years ago I was a re-enactor in battles but couldn’t afford cool gear so I started making my own. When I’m creating my pieces either armour or weapons, I get into a flow state where you start picturing the changes in the steel or the shapes in your head. I’m doing something that people haven’t done for hundreds of years.
WE SAY:
Rob Hayes turned his love of historical arms and armour into his rare trades practice. A self-taught artisan, Rob made his own armour during his time as a fighter in the medieval combat sport known as Buhurt. Now, Rob practices under the name Hammer & Scales and is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and skills.
