ABOUT JON:
Jon Grant has been a Windsor Chairmaker for over 15 years. He works full time from his studio in Tasmania. Jon feels a deep connection with the unique timbers that grow within the cool temperate forests of the region. In his practice, he uses traditional techniques and hand tools wherever possible.
WE SAY:
Jon's work is strongly aligned with the American style of Windsor Chairmaking. He regularly travels to the USA to work with the masters of the craft.
Having worked in TAFE for 35 years, Jon has a wealth of experience as an educator. He has run the chairmaking program at the Melbourne Guild of Woodworking for almost 10 years. For the past 5 years, Jon has been teaching Windsor Chairmaking out of his studio in Tasmania.
