Greg Hanlon

Calligrapher and Letter Carver

WORKSHOP STYLE
Deliberate, detailed, intriguing.

ABOUT GREG:
Stone carving being a physically demanding process, all stone carvers have to go through something of a rite of passage to toughen up. This is especially true for the hand that holds the chisel.

WE SAY:
Greg Hanlon is traditionally trained in lettering both as a calligrapher and stone carver.
In 1995, he joined the Calligraphy Society of Victoria (CSV) and had the opportunity to learn with tutors from every corner of the world. In 2008, Greg completed a Certificate in Calligraphy at RMIT. He has since travelled far and wide to study with the best calligraphers in the world.
In 2012, Greg participated in a stone-carved lettering workshop with Kristoffel Boudens. This sparked a passion for the medium. Greg has since transitioned his lettering practice from calligraphy to letter carving.
