Tools, Techniques & Terminology: The CSM Crank-In

About this workshop

Join visiting Canadian guest presenter and mentor Steve Ashton for a Crank-In!

In this full-day workshop, you will get a deep dive into the Circular Sock Knitting Machine (CSM). Steve Ashton will provide advice, support, and tuition on using your machine to create knitted works.

A Circular Sock Knitting Machine (CSM) is a mechanical hand-cranked tool used to create a continuous circular seamless knitted body – traditionally socks or hosiery – but with practice and creative hands can be used to make leg warmers, wrist warmers, small hats, scarves, and more.

A 'Crank-In' usually invites participants to bring their CSM from home for a group leaning experience. In this instance, some machines will also be available for beginners to use. Participants will need to bring their own yarn from home.
