Practical Knot-Tying

About this workshop
Banish the Granny Knot forever! Learn to tie knots that are useful in everyday life with shipwright and sailmaker, Rick Mitchell!
In this half-day workshop, you will learn about rope construction and historic uses of knots. You will get hands-on experience tying a variety of traditional practical knots: the rolling hitch, reef knot, sheet bend, bow line, truckies’ hitch, clove hitch, and round turn.
At the conclusion of the workshop, you will take away print resources and a bibliography, the knot samples you've created, and a length of rope for practicing your skills at home.
