About this workshop
This May, the Rare Trades Centre, CRAFT and the City of Ballarat present Craft Lab 24 celebrating our shared commitment to fostering and sustaining the exemplary craft practices of local and regional artisans.
Throughout Craft Lab 24 the Rare Trades Centre is offering a series of curated experiences with artisans.
Learn the basics of blacksmithing with blacksmith and sculptor David Graham.
This full-day introduction to blacksmithing will cover safety in the workshop, the tools of the trade and some of the basic techniques.
Using this information, you will learn to hand forge a coal rake and hanging hook.
At the end of the day, you will take your hand-made tool home with you.

What do I need to bring?
Snacks, lunch, water bottle, notepad and pen
Clothing guidelines
Workshop appropriate - wrist to ankle 100% cotton, steel capped boots or leather work boots preferred, hair tied back, no hanging jewellery, no baggy or flowing clothing.

Small class size – max 6 participants
