
Introduction to Traditional Upholstery

About this workshop
Learn the basics of traditional upholstery with Stephen Ferguson!
In this full-day workshop, you will be introduced to tools, materials and methods used in upholstering wood-frame furniture. You will work in a small group with a maximum of 6 participants.You will practice on a lift out seat frame, using all of the original natural fillings and coils. You will learn about preparing padding materials; stitching and securing them in place; measuring, fitting, cutting and securing the cover material; and finishing the final upholstered piece.
At the end of the workshop, you will have completed a properly sprung and padded upholstered seat suitable for a traditional dining chair. This course will give you the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to approach your own beloved pieces at home.

Snacks, lunch, water bottle, notepad and pen.
Clothing guidelines
Workshop appropriate - closed-toed shoes, no hanging jewellery, hair tied back
