About this workshop
Learn the basics of millinery and make a fascinator with milliner Becky-Jane Fortin.
In this full-day workshop, you will learn the tools and techniques used to create a traditional fascinator with a finger veil, including cutting and fitting elements, blocking the hat form, wiring and binding decorative pieces, stitching and cutting veiling, and fabricating a flower from Sinamay fabric.At the completion of the workshop students will have created their own unique fascinator headpiece guaranteed to enhance any Race Day ensemble.
Note: Sinamay is a popular hat-making foundation fabric, woven from processed abaca stalks – a type of banana native to the Philippines. Abaca fibre is stronger than silk or cotton and can last for over 100 years.

Clothing guidelines
Workshop appropriate - closed toe shoes, hair tied back, no hanging jewellery, no baggy or flowing clothing.
