Centre for Rare Arts and Forgotten Trades acknowledges the Wadawurrung people as the Traditional custodians of the land on which we operate. About this workshop
Immerse yourself in the world of indigo with natural dyer Jude Craig.
In this full-day workshop, you will learn about the origins of this ancient dye and spend time with the vat creating a range of blue hues. Jude will guide you through creating colour samples and experimenting with resist techniques. At the end of the workshop, you will have a beautiful silk scarf to wear home, dyed with your own hands.

Snacks, lunch, water bottle, notepad and pen.

Comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting stained. Closed-toed shoes. Apron recommended.

Small class size – max 8 participants

All instruction, tools and materials included

At the end of this workshop, you will have gained basic knowledge of the history and value of indigo dye and have a good understanding of the alchemy of indigo dyeing and how to coax colour from the plant.
