About this workshop
Learn the art of Blackwork Embroidery with award-winning artist, Alison Cole.
In this workshop, students will be working on an embroidery design taken directly from a Chinese blouse in the collection of the Australian Centre for Goldrush Collections.
You will embroider the counted design using either double running stitch or backstitch. You will also learn how to make up the completed pouch and finish the edge with buttonhole stitch.
We will be working in black-stranded silk on linen fabric. You will have the choice of working the design on 32-count linen or 56-count linen with both fabrics supplied in the kit.
This project is perfect for those wanting to learn Blackwork Embroidery for the first time or for those who already know Blackwork and would like to learn about the pieces in the Goldrush collection and how they were worked.
